What a beautiful Scottish Elopement

In Scotland, we are so lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful scenery so when Anna & Claire got in touch with their idea to get married down by the river dee and then have their pictures taken at Dunnottar castle I was so excited.

With only the two of them and their two witnesses I knew this Scottish elopement would be something special.

It was a beautifully warm day when we arrived down at the river dee to start this intimate ceremony with just Claire, Anna and their two witnesses. There was not another person around which made the day just peaceful and beautiful which really made this gorgeous location stand out!

Claire & Anna exchanged their vows while standing right along the banks of the river Dee before completing two traditional Scottish exchanges handfasting and sharing a drink out of a quaich before taking 5 minutes to themselves towards the end to finish the bottle of beer before we carried on with the pictures 😆

Our final stop for those wedding pictures was none other than the stunning Dunnottar castle. What better setting is there than the cliffs of this castle?

The castle creates a backdrop that is just beautifully dramatic while the cliffs and the sea in the background only just add to this. We took a bottle of champagne for a little celebration of the wedding day with us so we could take our time at the castle.

Claire & Anna also brought along some lovely personalized denim jackets that they had made for the day, so we used these at the end just to add even more choice of photographs at the end of the day ❤️

Since 2020 I think it has made people realise that it is okay to have the wedding that you want and I think this wedding is a perfect example of how beautiful a small intimate wedding can be. The river dee and Dunnottar castle really made this wedding stand out and it will be one I always remember.
