How does a newborn session work inside my home?

A newborn photography session held in your house is a wonderful way to capture the precious moments of your baby's early days in the comfort of your own home. This is a great alternative to having to come to my studio in Inverbervie especially if you are unable to drive.

Here's what typically happens during a newborn photography session in the comfort of your own home.

Pre-Shoot Consultation

Before we even get to your newborn photography shoot, we will have a consultation online. This is a chance to discuss your preferences, any specific ideas you have in mind, and to start thinking about the colours and props you might want me to bring along with me on the day of your photoshoot. You will then get a questionnaire to complete along with the opportunity to add pictures from my previous photoshoots for inspiration.

Set Up

Upon my arrival I will look around the room to find the best place to set up, I usually try and go out of the way but still somewhere that you can sit and watch your newborn photoshoot taking place. It takes me 20 minutes to set up my portable studio in your home, so this is the perfect opportunity to finish getting ready or to do a final top up feed to make sure we get those dreamy sleepy images. My set up is small so there is no need to move furniture for my arrival, if we do happen to need to move something we can do this together once I have arrived.

Posing and Patience

Newborns can be unpredictable, so patience is key during these sessions. I will work with your baby's natural movements and comfort, capturing a mix of posed and candid shots. This may involve gently placing the baby in certain positions and using props to create adorable and heartwarming scenes for you to cherish forever, with my Newborn photoshoots they are completely baby led so they may take 2-3 hours from start to finish depending on your baby's mood on the day of your photoshoot.

Family and Sibling Shots:

Depending on your preferences, I will also include shots with the entire family or any siblings. Capturing the interactions and tender moments between family members adds a personal touch to the session - if you are unsure or feel slightly uncomfortable about being in front of the camera, don't panic there are ways we can get you involved creatively to work around this.

After Your Photoshoot

After the session, I will carefully select the best images and get them ready for you to view. I offer viewings for your images around 1-2 weeks after your photoshoot. It is best that you come to the studio to view your images so that you can see all of the products that I offer in person, however, there is always the option to do this online if you really are unable to manage. Your viewing appointment is your choosing appointment so we will be picking what you leave with together to make sure you get the best out of your images and have them around your home to cherish for the coming years,
